Анотація: The program of the course is in accordance with the curriculum of master's training and is a normative professional discipline for their preparation in the specialty "Public administration". The course "Philosophy of Democratic Governance" is a generalization of theoretical courses of political science and social sciences, aimed at developing professional knowledge of students in the field of public administration. The course "Philosophy of Democratic Governance" aims at acquiring knowledge about the nature of democratic governance, its history, principles and mechanisms of functioning of political and administrative systems. In the course of studying the discipline, students gain knowledge of the ideological, institutional, institutional, normative, cultural background of democratic governance, become familiar with the world experience of establishing democracy and improving its governance tools, as well as exploring the problems of democratic transit in Ukraine. The course assists in developing the skills of independent analysis of the problems of governance, the development of a democratic management culture, the mastery of the categorical apparatus and the normative base of public policy. The course examines the genesis of modern ideas about the nature of power, the state, society, nation, and their relation to the values and worldviews of liberal democracy. The issues of political representation, the ratio of individual, group and national interests in the real conditions of functioning of democratic institutions of Ukraine are studied.

Результати навчання: The main objective of the course is to provide students with
knowledge in the field of theory and practice of democratic
governance based on sound theoretical knowledge and the
development of the advanced experience of developed countries.
As a result of studying the discipline the student should:
- know the theoretical background of the functioning of a
democratic political regime;
- have modern theoretical and conceptual approaches to the
problems of democratic transit;
- know the basic principles and mechanisms of public
administration in advanced democracies;
- have communicative, organizational and analytical tools of
management activity

Методи й критерії оцінювання: The overall course grade (up to 100 points) consists of three components. They are: - Participation in seminars (in-room activities that include discussions, analysis of situations etc.) – up to 50 points; - Individual research paper (Human rights: problematic issues) – up to 10 points; - Individual research paper (Real and facade democracy in modern Ukraine: problems and ways to solve them) – up to 10 points; - Public Presentation of the Research Results (Real and facade democracy in modern Ukraine: problems and ways to solve them)– up to 30 points.
