Mogilyanka Is Among the Most Beautiful Universities in Ukraine

Ukrainian tourist portal, IGotoWorld.com, presented a list of higher educational institutions in Ukraine that can boast of the most beautiful architectural buildings or ensembles.

According to the authors of the project, studying in the walls that literary breathe history represents a special pleasure: "Some of the oldest educational institutions in Ukraine are several centuries old. Established hundreds of years ago, these universities developed not only in the sphere of education. Very often with time these academic institutions became architectural monuments. And the challenges for their leaders – preserve not only their educational reputation, but also their invaluable historical heritage".

Old Academy Building

Kyiv-Mohyla Old Academic (Mazepa) building is mentioned among the historical monuments – it is the first exclusively educational building, erected in 1704 at the expense of a Kyiv-Mohyla Academy graduate, Ivan Mazepa. In 1739 by the order of Metropolitan Rafail Zborowski two more floors were added to the building for the purpose of philosophy and theology classes, as well as the Congregation Hall for student debates and general assemblies.

Today the building houses NaUKMA research library, book keeping department, collections and rare books fund, research archives, exhibition galleries and NAUKMA Doctoral School.

Congregation Hall of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy

The National University of "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy" premises are also home for nine architectural monuments.
