NaUKMA continues fruitful cooperation with research institutions of Norway in the field of health care

In order to contribute to improved mental health and increased resilience in Ukraine, in particular in the context of suicide prevention and first response in emergencies, the Regional Center on Violence, Trauma and Suicide Prevention (RVTS East), Akershus University Hospital and National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (NaUKMA) decided to join forces again under the financial support of the Norwegian Ministry of Health and Care Services and collaborate in elaboration of crisis counselling, crisis management, psychotraumatology and psychological first aid to recipients in Ukraine.

In the framework of the new project “Institutional Cooperation in the Health Sector”, NaUKMA Center for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, as the executor of the project at NaUKMA, will facilitate the evaluation, adaptation and implementation of the suicide prevention and crisis management programs for employees of the regional MHPSS departments throughout the regions of Ukraine, provide supervision, develop and arrange digital workshops upon requests of key project beneficiaries in different regional clusters, provide national coordination for regional trainers and organization of the focus groups.

In 2020–2023, NaUKMA has already successfully implemented a project with the Regional Center on Violence, Trauma and Suicide Prevention (RVTS East) and Akershus University Hospital devoted to “Input to Community Resilience Building in Ukraine”. The project was a component of the large-scale three-year cooperation program between the Government of Norway and the Government of Ukraine "UKR-18/0016 Health Collaboration with Ukraine", focused on supporting the reform of the health care system in Ukraine and the introduction of international aid standards.
