ECTS credit allocation based on the student workload needed in order to achieve expected learning outcomes

The study process at the NaUKMA is built upon the principles of the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS).

The study time, the significance of individual courses in the curriculum, and the obtained knowledge is measured in conventional units – credits. One credit equals 36 academic hours of class work and independent studies. A workload for an academic year constitutes 60 ECTS-credits. The recommended distribution of these credits: 26 credits in the autumn semester, 26 credits in the spring semester, and 8 credits in the additional term of the spring semester.

To be awarded Bachelor’s degree, students must receive a certain number of credits, according to the curriculum in their respective specialties. The number of credits in Bachelor programs is 240.

To be awarded Specialist’s degree, students must receive a certain number of credits, according to the curriculum in their respective specialties, but no less that 60 credits.

To be awarded Master’s degree, students must receive a certain number of credits, according to the Master program curriculum in their respective specialties, which must be:

  • between 120 and 135 credits for programs lasting for 1 year and 10 months;
  • no less than 60 credits for programs lasting for 10 months;
  • no less than 150 credits for programs lasting for 2 years and 5 months.
