Lecture by Paul Gavrilyuk "Why Study Theology? Theological Education and the Idea of the University".

Paul Gavrilyuk holds the Aquinas Chair in Theology and Philosophy at the University of St. Thomas, Saint Paul, Minnesota. An internationally respected Ukrainian American theologian, Gavrilyuk specializes in patristics, Russian religious thought, and philosophy of religion. He is the author of five books, including Georges Florovsky and the Russian Religious Renaissance (Oxford, 2013), soon to be published in a Russian translation. Drawing on his twenty-year experience of working in the US academy, Gavrilyuk will speak on the contribution that theology makes to the intellectual life of a contemporary university.
