NaUKMA hosted a summer school “Historicity And Post-Revolutions – A Journalistic Retrospective On The Maidan Throughout The Country”

22 people took part in the summer school, among them 12 were from Germany, 1 from Poland, 1 from Switzerland and 8 from Ukraine.

During the period of over 2 weeks, apart from the workshops, the participants took two field trips to Mykolaiv and Rivne, had the chance to visit Ukraine Crisis Media Center and Ukraine Today TV channel - “Ukraine’s first international TV news network”, which was founded as a reaction to the Kremlin-steered channel Russia Today. Another visit led the group to the 9/11 Frolivska Volunteer Run Humanitarian Aid Center for the refugees from the war zone right in the heart of Kyivs Podil district.

At the end, not only that every group was able to complete their pieces within the pressing deadline (Sunday evening 20:00 pm), which can be considered a realistic foretaste for the upcoming daily struggle for those who are going to work as journalists, but their submissions were also of a very high quality and have good chances to be published in prominent journalistic outlets. Their projects will be published on the NaUKMA International Office web-page at the end of August.

All in all, it was an amazing time with lots of stimulating (and controversial) discussions. Thanks to all of you very much and see you somewhere in Ukraine!
