THIRD PRESIDENT OF KYIV-MOHYLA ACADEMY PROFESSOR ANDRIY MELESHEVYCH PASSED AWAY

With great sorrow community of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy informs about the death of Professor Andriy Meleshevych, Third President of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (2014-2019), Dean of the Faculty of Humanities (2005-2014), professor of the Department of General and Public Law, famous lawyer and scientist, Merited Lawyer of Ukraine. Professor Meleshevych passed away on 23 April 2021 at the age of 58.
The last farewell to Professor Andriy Meleshevych will take place on April 28, 2021, at 10 AM, in the courtyard of the 1st campus of National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (entrance from Kontraktova square). We kindly ask all attendees to follow the Covid-19 pandemic rules, in particular physical distance of 1,5m and facemasks.
It is possible to pay respects through a symbolic memorial stand for Professor Andriy Meleshevych at the entrance to the university building 1 (Kontraktova square) or contribute to the Professor Andriy Meleshevych Online Memory Book.
Answering the question on what Mohylyanka means to him, Andriy Meleshevych was short: “Mohylyanka – this is my love”.

Andriy Meleshevych was born in 1962 in the family of university professors. He got J.D. (equivalent) from the Law School at Kyiv National University, Ukraine in 1984; M.A. Political Science and Ph.D. Political Science fat Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University in 1992 and 1998 respectively. He is the author of multiple books, book chapters and articles in the areas of Comparative Law, Comparative Politics, International Relations, Democratic Transitions and Consolidations, Soviet and Post-Soviet Politics, Comparative Political Parties, International Human Rights, Comparative Political Institutions, Comparative Constitutionalism, Comparative Legal Systems, Law and Society, Political Violence and Terrorism. In 2014, Andriy Meleshevych got recognition Award to Co-author of the Law of Ukraine on High Education by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and Parliamentary Committee of Education and Science. In 2015, Andriy Meleshevych was awarded “Merited Lawyer of Ukraine” National Decoration, granted by President of Ukraine for professional achievements.
