In 2021 NaUKMA will implement the project of professional development in the field of cybersecurity for veterans of ATO/ JFO in partnership with CRDF Global

The NaUKMA School of Social Work has signed a partnership agreement with the U.S. Civilian Research & Development Foundation (CRDF Global) for the implementation of a social project “Cybersecurity Professional Development and Reintegration Program for ATO/JFO Veterans “Cyberdefenders” under the strategic and financial support of the U.S. Department of State. The reintegration of veterans has always been and remains an important issue for many countries that have been involved in the military conflicts in one way or another. Ukraine also has faced this difficult task of reintegrating more than 460,000 Ukrainian veterans, who had been demobilized after serving - professionally, socially, psychologically. Understanding this crucial social challenge, NaUKMA and CRDF Global have joined forces within the Project.

The main goal of the Project for NaUKMA is the development of the curriculum and methodology for the reintegration component of the Program for ATO/JFO veterans. This will help program participants to acquire necessary “soft skills” for the effective reintegration into society and further employment in the commercial and public sectors as cybersecurity professionals, as well as providing full range of reintegration support to the two groups of participants undergoing the reintegration and career counselling support program according to the previously developed methodology. The process of reintegration and social adaptation will be ensured through the provision of psychosocial support, mentoring and career counselling services, as well as peer-to-peer support, which will improve veterans’ social wellbeing and their professional skills.

The implementation of the Project at NaUKMA will also involve expertise of other structural units of the university: NaUKMA Center for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, NaUKMA Job and Career Center, Kyiv-Mohyla Business School
