NaUKMA will enhance the potential of community psychosocial support services in conflict-affected areas of Eastern Ukraine together with GIZ

NaUKMA Center for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support received a two-year grant from the German Federal Company GIZ under the commission and financial support of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation & Development for the implementation of the project “Strengthening PSS Education Сapacity and Building Potential of Community PSS Services in Conflict-Affected Areas of Eastern Ukraine”.

The project is aimed at enhancing the qualitative and quantitative pool of professional and voluntary social service providers capable of providing the need-based PSS services and assistance to the population in the two selected regions of Eastern Ukraine affected by the military conflict (Donetsk and Luhansk), enriching them with the lacking skills and/ or resources and drawing recommendations for sustainable local rooting in the communities.

To achieve this goal, the project and the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (NaUKMA), as project’s implementing organization, will collaborate with two primary project’s university-partners in the region – Donbass State Pedagogical University in Slovyansk and Taras Shevchenko Luhansk National University in Starobilsk, as well as will establish links with local authorities and on-site social service providers.
