NaUKMA continues rebuilding the health care system in Ukraine together with Norwegian partners

 

The NaUKMA Center for Mental Health and Psychosocial SupportProfessor Volodymyr Poltavets’ School of Social Work and Department of Psychology and Pedagogy start the implementation of a new big three-year project with financial support from the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs via the Norwegian Directorate for Development Cooperation (Norad) and coordination of the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH). The project is a continuation of the multi-year capacity-building activities in the healthcare sector within the framework of two previous successful projects in cooperation with the Regional Center on Violence, Trauma and Suicide Prevention (RVTS East) and Akershus University Hospital, and will contribute to rebuilding of the healthcare system in Ukraine in line with the Government priorities and needs focusing on the longer-term development objectives.

 

The role of NaUKMA in the project will be to expand the access to quality crisis management and psychosocial support in cases of severe losses in order to better prevent suicide in Ukraine, as well as to increase the capacity of Resilience Centers in the context of suicide prevention and to integrate programs on crisis management, suicide prevention and/or crisis management, suicide prevention and/or bereavement support as part of the services provided by such centers on an ongoing basis. During the project implementation, NaUKMA experts will also participate in the development and implementation of state policies in the field of anti-crisis response and suicide prevention in cooperation with the Coordination Center for Mental Health of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine within the framework of the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Program «How Are U?» initiated by Olena Zelenska.
